The Sun... and the Son
and the Gift of Both ☀️
Who still loves books?
Me for one!
Over the last few weeks I’ve been reading a book, The Secret of Nitric Oxide-Bringing The Science To Life , written by my friend, and more importantly, one of the world's leading nitric oxide researchers and product developers, Dr. Nathan Bryan.
For over a decade I’ve followed him, personally trusted and used his products specifically for my own wellness routine.
Within in his book he speaks about a very interesting topic that got me thinking about something most of us rarely consider... and possibly have been taught to avoid to some degree by educators.
Sunlight.
Like many people, I knew sunshine plays an important role in Vitamin D. But I learned something new: sunlight also helps our bodies release stored nitric oxide—a remarkable molecule involved in healthy circulation and many other functions throughout the body.
It made me pause.
Not just because of the science...
…but because it reminded me how often God’s creation points us toward deeper truths.
Having spent more than three decades studying the human body through fitness, competition, and now healthy aging, I’m continually amazed that we never stop discovering how brilliantly God designed us- a design that naturally is meant to blend with His creation as well.
Let’s take a look at this…
The sun nourishes life in ways we can’t always see.
And likewise, God’s Son, Jesus Christ, brings life in ways we often can’t see either.
One sustains our physical bodies.
The other transforms our hearts.
The more I thought about it, the more I found myself smiling at how God continues to amaze me!
God designed the sun to help create an environment where our bodies can function as they were intended.
Through His Son, He created the opportunity for our hearts and spirits to flourish as well.
Maybe that’s one of the beautiful reminders hidden within creation...
Sometimes life isn’t about striving harder.
Sometimes it's about placing ourselves within the environment God designed for us.
I love that even something as ordinary as stepping outside into the morning sunshine can become a reminder of His wisdom, His creativity and His care.
This morning I sat outside with my coffee, enjoying the warmth of the sun, and found myself grateful for both gifts...
The warmth of the sun...
And the hope found in the Son.
Psalm 84:11 says,
“For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does He withhold from those whose walk is blameless.”
As I finished my coffee, another thought came to mind.
Sometimes the healthiest things we can do really aren’t complicated.
Step outside.
Let the morning sun warm your face and skin.
Walk barefoot.
Take a deep breath.
Move your body.
Pause long enough to notice God’s creation around you- and truth be told, I speak to my plants, the trees, the birds and squirrels we feed… and even the grass … I brag on all the beauty and with gratitude take it all in.
Funny side note: when my husband has to water for me, he tells the plants I will be back the next time, and he is sorry he isn’t me… I think it’s pretty cute. 😊💞
And lastly, thank Him for designing both this incredible world... and the incredible body He’s entrusted to your care.
For me personally, supporting that design has also included learning more about nitric oxide and making it part of my daily wellness routine for more than ten years. It's just one of the many reasons I've continued to trust Dr. Nathan Bryan's research and the products he has developed.
