Let..
A small but profound word. - 6 mins read
Let me tell you how I woke up a few mornings ago…
The song at the bottom of this message, from Anne Wilson was ringing through my spirit, but not the entire song, only the main 2 lines starting with the word, LET.
These are the 2 lines throughout the song:
Let me tell you ‘bout my Jesus
And let my Jesus change your life
Over the last few days, I’ve been contemplating this ‘Minutes with Monica’ message and today felt to try and share what the Holy Spirit is working in me, personally.
First of all, I find doing a word study allows me to dive in deeper and hear more details about a particular word.
For instance, as I thought about LET, I don’t believe I ever used it as a NOUN as described below.
So, this idea did not come to mind initially.
Let’s take the verb definition and expand.
VERB:
not prevent or forbid; allow
Thankfully, YOU are letting not preventing or forbidding but allowing me to share my heart with you by reading this at this very moment, and to that I am grateful.
I am grateful because I believe, through this writing opportunity, God LETS me create and use one of my giftings from the Holy Spirit.
I trust, through these, He is using ME to further His Kingdom.
As these quick studies change me and my heart, I pray they do for you as well. We are all called to SHARE His Word and testimony… looking to affect one life at a time, encouraging others in the Faith and Truth of His Word, Jesus Christ.
Here are some questions to ponder… trust me, I am doing the same with them.
Question #1:
Do you find it challenging to LET or ALLOW someone to do something for you?
Just think about this question in regard to letting a person do something for us.
I believe most people find it difficult and, in some cases, completely out of the question. And these can be people that you know, love, live with, work closely with.. etc.
Would you say then, that when we LET someone do something for us, we must TRUST them completely and without doubt, that what we are letting them do for us, will be accomplished?
Question #2:
If we indeed find it difficult to trust a human to LET or ALLOW them to do something for us, how much more difficult is it for us to LET or ALLOW Jesus to do something for us? Hmmmm…
In Anne Wilson song she sings, “Let me tell you ‘bout my Jesus-And let my Jesus change your life”.
I venture to say the first part of these lyrics is the easy part:
Let me tell you ‘bout my Jesus.
I am pretty sure if you are reading this still you are OPEN to hearing about Jesus… you are allowing and letting me share about Jesus and what He shared with me.
However, it’s the 2nd part of these lyrics, “And let my Jesus change your life” that gets us all.
To be clear, Jesus changes our lives, not us or a pastor or priest.. it’s only Jesus who can (and will if we ask Him), do this, but we have to LET or ALLOW Him access and permission into our heart, lives.
This brings us to a rather religious sounding word, sanctification.
In its most basic sense, to sanctify something is to set it apart for God’s special use and purpose.
Therefore, God’s people or believers are sometimes said to be sanctified because they are set apart for God’s special purposes in the world...
Believers find they are already counted righteous in God’s sight, yet called daily to pursue righteousness in word, deed, and thought. And only Jesus’s truth can set us free to live this way.
Question #3:
Are you ‘set apart for God’s special use and purpose’?
Do you want to be?
I know I do.. but am I fully letting Him or allowing Him to enter in all areas of my life in order for this to happen?
This may be the question to ask yourself in a quiet devotional time, “Where am I allowing and letting God change me so that He can also sanctify me and where in my life am I not letting/allowing Him?”.
For years I considered Sanctification and Change to be similar.. and it is to an extent.. I found AI’s note about this interesting:
The question of whether sanctification and change are similar is complex and subjective. While both concepts involve transformation, they differ in their nature and purpose.
Sanctification is a continuous process of moral growth and renewal (and for us BELIEVERS only Jesus our Messiah can change us), while change can refer to ANY transformation, which may not necessarily be moral or spiritual.
The similarity between sanctification and change lies in the idea of ongoing transformation, but it is important to understand the distinct roles each plays in the Christian faith.

Now, let’s go back to the 2nd way LET is defined, as a NOUN.
Do you remember grade school? I believe we learned this simple definition of a noun: is a word that names something, such as a person, place, thing, or idea.
With that in mind… let’s jump into the next part of this discussion of the word LET.
The word LET as a NOUN:
a period during which a room or property is rented/a property available for rent
This may seem like a stretch to some, but even at this time of typing I am asking the Holy Spirit to guide me in this train of thought, this idea of the word LET as a noun and how it refers to us.
If LET, as a noun, describes a period (of time) which a room is rented or property available for rent..
Let’s consider that we are living in the period of time described as the ‘Age of GRACE’ and there is an END to this period, and it is my belief it is sooner than later.
Titus 2:11 states: The grace of God has appeared (this happened in a period of time) that offers salvation (the result of the period of time) to all people.”
This is incredible TRUTH for ALL people.. you, me, our loved ones… even the ones that are challenging to us in our lives!!
(Here is a deeper, but easy dive into The Age of Grace.)
As believers our bodies are to be a ‘temple’ for Jesus Christ, the Potentate, Lord of lords and King of kings to live in, during this time of Grace..
Thankfully, He has a completely new life for us on the other side of this dispensation of GRACE, which is GOOD NEWS indeed!
Next thought is that He already PAID the fee for us.. on Calvary He paid the exact price for us, our sins, transgressions and iniquities: past, present and future! His shed blood is the currency that paid for us..
This TRUTH should give us trust and confidence that when we LET Him in to sanctify (and change) us, we are essentially the ‘real estate’ rented.
The period of time is NOW, would you agree that it’s safe to say that we are rented (LET) for this period of time, but truth is, it is a ‘RENT to OWN’ plan because on the other side of this period of GRACE- He has a mansion for us believers- for ETERNITY and He owns the blueprints to us, the patent if you will for us, so He already owns us.. we just have to LET Him do His will in our lives which will sanctify and CHANGE our lives—just like Anne Wilson’s song says.
Truth in His Word: Philippians 2:13
New International Version
for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.
New Living Translation
For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.
This is so profound to me, and I am striving to transform my inner most thoughts on this in type form..
I would absolutely LOVE to hear your thoughts on this too.. leave a comment and share with me if these 2 definitions made sense to you. I welcome your thoughts..
Sometimes we have a thought that the Lord shows us and putting it to word is challenging… there is much more to talk about throughout all of this but I am doing my best to keep these under 8mins read time.. 😉😉
Live Radiantly … Today!

This message is definitely from the Holy Spirit, so creative, so profound (for such a small word, let) that if one doesn't meditate on it, they will miss it. Thank you for sharing and allowing (letting...) obedience to the Lord's leading minister such valuable truth to all of us who read. It expands my understanding of how we are to re-evaluate our time here on earth to fulfill our assignments, callings and mandates that the Lord originally sent us to do.
