This image below made me laugh out loud this evening and to be fair, I saw it on another Substack account but wasn’t following him… took the image… then logged in to give him a heart and follow him… but lost him on the feed.
So, I had to share still… we all need to laugh, and I thought this was appropriate for the evening, hope you do too!
On another note, hubs and I had some devotional time this morning prior to the day getting going.
We read Ps. 5, Proverbs 5 and Revelation 5.
As always, verses stand out when I read, and it must be what the Holy Spirit is saying for that day and time and for where we are in our understanding, faith and maturity.
If you are a Christian that reads (apparently 1-2% of professing Christians actually read the Bible, God’s Word/manual for our life) then you know what I am saying about verses standing out.
and here they are below.. with my commentary of course. Fun to share!
Thanks for joining me here on Substack! Praying for our country this evening .. and all of God’s children!
8 Lead me, Lord, in your righteousness
because of my enemies—
make your way straight before me.
9 Not a word from their mouth can be trusted;
their heart is filled with malice.
Their throat is an open grave;
with their tongues they tell lies.
(can’t help but feel sometimes this is all politics!!)
10 Declare them guilty, O God!
Let their intrigues be their downfall.
Banish them for their many sins,
for they have rebelled against you.
(thankful that I don’t have to judge, God knows ‘their’ hearts and WILL bring justice in HIS perfect time)
11 But let all who take refuge in you be glad;
let them ever sing for joy.
(notice it says ‘LET ALL’ … be glad— BUT we must take REFUGE in HIM 1st)
(ref·uge [ˈrefyo͞oj] noun
a. a condition of being safe or sheltered from pursuit, danger, or trouble:
b. something providing shelter:
Spread your protection over them,
that those who love your name may rejoice in you.
(we can pray this over ourselves and loved ones… and even those we don’t know that are children of God- I pray this over YOU who is reading now) 😊
12 Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous;
you surround them with your favor as with a shield.
(Thank you, Jesus, He is protecting us.. memorize this for future trials and tribulations that ARE to come!)
21 For your ways are in full view of the Lord,
and he examines all your paths.
22 The evil deeds of the wicked ensnare them;
the cords of their sins hold them fast.
23 For lack of discipline they will die,
led astray by their own great folly.
(So, this chapter is actually about avoiding adultery in marriage… but did you know that the Word also talks about people committing SPIRITUAL adultery towards God through their false gods and things of this world? May we be diligent not lacking discipline… may we be OPEN to Him examining our paths and convicting us where needed.)
Spiritual adultery is unfaithfulness to God. It is having an undue fondness for the things of the world. Spiritual adultery is analogous to the unfaithfulness of one’s spouse: “‘But like a woman faithless to her lover, even so have you been faithless to me, O house of Israel,’ says the LORD” (Jeremiah 3:20; see also Isaiah 1:21; 57:8; Ezekiel 16:30).
The Bible tells us that people who choose to be friends with the world are an “adulterous people” having “enmity against God” (James 4:4–5). The “world” here is the system of evil under Satan’s control (John 12:31; Ephesians 2:2; 1 John 5:19). The world system, with its contrived and deceitful scheme of phony values, worthless pursuits, and unnatural affections, is designed to lure us away from a pure relationship with God. Spiritual adultery, then, is the forsaking of God’s love and the embracing of the world’s values and desires (Romans 8:7–8; 2 Timothy 4:10; 1 John 2:15–17).
Revelation 5: 8 -9,13
Worthy Is the Lamb
8 Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. 9 And they sang a new song, saying:
“You are worthy to take the scroll,
And to open its seals;
For You were slain,
And have redeemed us to God by Your blood
(Once again, we hear that Jesus REDEEMED us TO God by HIS BLOOD- best news ever… friends, we have PEACE with God because of Jesus’s blood! Hallelujah! )
13 And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying:
“Blessing and honor and glory and power
Be to Him who sits on the throne,
And to the Lamb, forever and [g]ever!”
(I can’t WAIT to meet the creatures which are in Heaven!!! Wow! This is exciting.. who knows what God has created that we have not seen or can even imagine! We are going to have work to do in Heaven, but this won’t be like work we think of here on earth.. I am hoping God will give me work to do that helps care for His creatures in Heaven!)
Live Radiantly …. today!
